Lloyd George Management (HK) Limited, was established in August 2014 by Robert Lloyd George, our Chairman and Chief Investment Officer, and a pioneer of specialist investments in Asia since the 1980’s. His previous eponymous company, which was founded in 1991, was sold to the Bank of Montreal in 2011.
The company is based in Hong Kong. Bratin Sanyal serves as CIO and Portfolio Manager of the India Ocean Fund, and works with two other analysts: Toby Mathers joined in November 2020, covering North Asian markets, and How Teng Chiou, who is based in Singapore and acts as a consultant to the firm on South East Asian markets. He has been working with Robert in various research capacities since 2010.
A regional long only equity fund, the Bamboo Asia Fund, LP was launched in October 2015. The Lloyd George Indian Ocean Fund, investing in India and the surrounding markets, was launched on December 1, 2016. A sister fund to the Bamboo Asia Fund, LP, The Optima Lloyd George Asia Fund was launched in May 2019 and is domiciled in Dublin.
In addition, the company currently operates two managed accounts for private trusts. These mandates follow the regional fund, with certain bespoke characteristics.
